Loutraki - Skopelos - Sporades Islands Greece
The charming village of Loutraki is situated on the north west side of Skopelos, and is the port serving village for the neighbouring town of Glossa.
The port of Loutraki offers connections by ferry boats and Flying Dolphins to the port of Volos ( Mount Pelion ) and Agios Konstantinos in Fthiotida.
The village of Loutraki is just 28km from the town of Chora ( also known as Skopelos Town ) and 6km from Glossa. Close to Loutraki are the small islands of "Strogilo", "Dasia", "Paximade" and "Glaronisi".
These four islands play an important role for Loutraki as they act like a natural barrier, protecting the port from bad weather and storms.
Loutraki has a very nice long sandy beach, which is perfect for summer holidays and vacations in this part of Skopelos.
A little over 300 meters to the west are the interesting ruins of the ancient city of "Selinounda", as well as parts of a wall from the castle that was located here in the 4th century. Visiting these ruins is an interesting way to spend an afternoon, and catch a glimpse of the past years of Loutraki and the western side of Skopelos.
There are also Roman Baths that were discovered here, as well as a natural water spring, that supplies Loutraki with its water.
Loutraki is a very nice part of Skopelos, and the charming scenery and landscapes make it a place in which one can easily relax, and enjoy the unique environment and friendly atmosphere.
